Our local small farmers face many obstacles to becoming established. Regulations, start-up capital, and initial operating expenses often overwhelm would-be farmers. Access to financial resources and peer consulting/training would improve their success rate. Here are our projection of the necessary elements of a successful grant program would look like.
The Goal of Grants for Local Farmers:
- Creating opportunity to learn how to grow sustainably
- Providing education and funding to help implement community gardens, backyard gardens, small shared farms.
- Resources to help farmers in need
- Creating plant nurseries that share plants with the communities to increase the viability of locally grown foods as much as we possibly can
Proceeds obtained through donations and a percentage of monies generated through CropHopping will be used to fund small-scale local farming. From backyard farmers to small family farmers, training grants will be provided to increase the viability of small scale farming. Large scale farming is poisoning our environment, and leaving our communities with food lacking in nutritional value. Indeed, in many poorer and remote areas, fresh food is not available at all. These projects will be provided with the necessary infrastructure, education, and tools needed to be successful. All Grantees will have the ability to be compensated for their farmed goods through CropHop, feeding back into the platform itself. Towards similar aims, we are developing cryptocurrency platforms such that CropHop can grow in developing countries.
